Real Techniques Miracle complexion Sponge

The advent of Beauty Blender has given a new meaning to flawless foundation application, though makeup sponges have always been there , but this innovation became a game changer, a product worth all the hype which was immediately duped by many known brands.Today at Sumbul's Blog we are going to talk about one such dupe which is considered to be the closest and best substitute of BB.
Yes! we are taking about the Real Techniques Miracle complexion sponge. I got this beauty an year back through my brother who generously listens to my makeup cravings and then put serious efforts in searching and getting it for me whenever he visits home, one of the perks of siblings residing abroad..oh yeah!!!(blessed)

Despite having it for an year I never opted for it,firstly because I had my trusted foundation brush (Real Technique Buffing Brush) and lastly even if I used it, I didn't get the desired results which is why I stopped using it, but then came the grandeur Mussart Misbah Makeup launch and I had her years of experience in my hands , the silk foundation became talk of the town in no time and there I was totally clueless and baffled because it gave me an extremely blotchy finish no matter how I applied it.Determined to make it work for my skin I went through a phase of trail and error following which, came my savior to the rescue, miracle sponge sheered out the full coverage foundation like a dream. And since then honestly I never tried using brushes for foundation application.

Why it didn't work for me in the first place? because of two major mistakes : I was either using it completely dry or using it without dampening it enough. This sponge needs to be thoroughly soaked in water and then squeezed (gently) till you get all the water out, the  porous sponge doubles in size and becomes super squishy (which is quite dry/hard otherwise). I always do this under the running tap water and it literally takes 30 secs max. The flat part is ideal for patting and blending foundation into the skin , I use swiping strokes for most parts of my face and then use the pointed round part for under eyes ,chin and around nose. For under eyes and a bit of troublesome dark spot on my chin I dab the sponge off .The fun part is that you can use this sponge for powder too.I personally have done that and achieved smooth natural looking results.

With a tool such as this, proper and deep cleaning is crucial because you never know when your foundation that has penetrated deep into the sponge becomes a fungus. This sponge doesn't require any specific cleansers and can be easily cleaned with your normal face cleansers or soaps. You just need to be gentle because the flat part of this sponge tends to rupture easily. The rest is all easy and you get a spotless squeaky clean sponge.I do this part too, under the running tap water by simply rubbing the cleanser on the sponge and then leather it out, squishing it multiple times under the water till it comes out clean.

So all you lovelies who use fingers or brushes for foundation/concealers I truly recommend this, stop dwelling upon any further and just give it a try, it surely gonna make one heck of a difference! The only con that I could figure out was that it absorbs a tad bit more product than I normally use (with a brush),but considering the finish it gives one can easily overlook this.

It retails at $6 but ranges from 900 to 1100 rupees on different Facebook pages, which is quite reasonable in comparison to a BB.
